I was one of the 25 young professionals selected to develop a proposal for Dominican Republic’s Country Brand. And I resulted in one of the 10 semi finalists.

A characteristic of our island is the warmth. Not only the warmth produced by our beautiful tropical climate, but also our human warmth.

The best symbol of this warmth is the sun. That's why when we think of Dominicans, we should think of the sun because it's what makes us as citizens warm, friendly, cheerful, and helpful. The sun is what gives us that human warmth that makes everyone who arrives feel at home and makes them want to stay.

Combining our initials, RD, with this warm and bright sun, and then turning it around (because Dominicans turn everything around), "en el mismo trayecto del sol" (on the same path as the sun) is born. It's a modern and practical logo that represents a landscape with this sun that we, Dominicans, are, using colors that can be seen in our sunrises such as orange and reddish tones and the blue of our tropical waters. Its strong shapes create an impact, and its simplicity helps represent us in any environment.

Dominicans are cheerful, friendly, empathetic, and helpful. We have a human warmth that characterizes us, and we put this essence and energy into everything we do. Dominican warmth is what makes our people special, our products unique, our landscapes memorable, our culture rich, and our alliances lasting.

And it's because of this warmth that we transmit, that Dominicans are like the sun.
